Spring into Soul Winning

Spring is officially here, everyone knows this is a new season. What would God be saying to Spirit Filled Church as we enter this new season? I am convinced He is speaking to our church about soul winning. I believe the Holy Spirit has been speaking to me these last couple of months to engage in active evangelism. We have tried all kinds of technics, everything from side walk Sunday School to giving new bicycles. The most effective way I have experienced is the Body of Christ agreeing on reaching out to people we know and cross our paths on a daily basis.

  • Step one is to agree it is God’s will and command for believers to win souls.
  • Step two is to pray and ask God to open our eyes to those He has marked for salvation.

I know that Jesus died for all sinners but we know God knows everyone will not be saved. We also know there are people we know who are ready to receive and serve our Lord and Savior. There is no higher calling than to be a disciple of our resurrected living God. How happy are you knowing your sin debt is paid in full? Well, there are many just like us who would receive Him if only we could bring them to Him. Let’s pray like never before for the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us to those who are held in bondage. Jesus is the answer and we are simply instruments in his hands.

My prayer simply, Jesus help me to see through your eyes and guide me to a hurting broken heart that you will heal and give eternal life. Don’t look for the most beautiful but look for those who are down trodden and need a savior. Jesus said ‘the well do not need a physician.’ He will guide us to those He has marked by His Holy Spirit.

Palm Sunday

The History of Palm Sunday

The celebration of Palm Sunday originated in the Jerusalem Church, around the late fourth century. The early Palm Sunday ceremony consisted of prayers, hymns, and sermons recited by the clergy while the people walked to various holy sites throughout the city. At the final site, the place where Christ ascended into heaven, the clergy would read from the gospels concerning the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. In the early evening they would return to the city reciting: “Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord.” The children would carry palm and olive branches as the people returned through the city back to the church, where they would hold evening services.

The Meaning of Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. The gospels record the arrival of Jesus riding into the city on a donkey, while the crowds spread their cloaks and palm branches on the street and shouted “Hosanna to the Son of David” and “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord” to honor him as their long-awaited Messiah and King.

The significance of Jesus riding a donkey and having his way paved with palm branches is a fulfillment of a prophecy spoken by the prophet Zechariah (Zechariah 9:9). In biblical times, the regional custom called for kings and nobles arriving in procession to ride on the back of a donkey. The donkey was a symbol of peace; those who rode upon them proclaimed peaceful intentions. The laying of palm branches indicated that the king of palm branches indicated that the king of dignitary was arriving in victory or triumph.

Isaiah 5:20-23 – Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness. Who put bitterness for sweet and sweet for bitter. 21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. 22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, 23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent.
Never in my life have I witnessed such media bias. Just this week Obama broke our law by giving $400 million to our enemy for ransom. However, the big story in the major media is that Donald Trump said he saw a video of the plane delivering the cash.      Now I ask you, how can Americans be so gullible?
Isn’t this what the prophets of old prophesied would be happening? And still fifty percent are willing to remain in the darkness of unbelief. Only God can open the blind spiritual eyes, and unstop spiritual deafness.
We, at Spirit Filled, believe in the power of prayer and the power at the ballot box. How can our fellow Americans be enlightened without the intervention of God’s Holy Spirit? Romans 8:26 tells us exactly how to pray when we don’t know what to pray for. The Bible is clear during these times, we must allow the Holy Spirit to pray through us. Use our mouth to speak the words in the unknown tongue that He wants prayed. No, God doesn’t do anything on earth without our prayers. That’s why it’s so important that we allow Him to pray through us, I believe as we continue to pray and obey, He will have His perfect will.

Glory to God in the highest! Have you ever asked yourself if in fact you glorify God to the highest? We have a lot that should bring glory to God. First of all, I believe we should glorify God for allowing us to be born a human and then being born-again as a spiritual being. The Bible teaches that only born-again human beings will join in that final chapter where His bride is revealed to the universe. What a thought, that although we feel so unworthy He will reveal us to every living being as His chosen ones.
Isaiah 42:7 Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.
We were made for the glory of God, and one way we bring Him glory is in times of stress and difficulties we stand our ground and walk by faith. God’s plan is that we are a witness in times of grief and disappointment. It’s not easy and it doesn’t come without years of discipling. However, it is not impossible once we learn to yield to the Holy Spirit for strength and direction.
I Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. A people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God, once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Today as we stand to give God glory, may we remember He is worthy of all praise and worship. May God be forever blessed through His Son and His people.

Happy Father’s Day

“What does the Bible say about Christian fathers?”
The greatest commandment in Scripture is this: “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5). Going back to verse 2, we read, “So that you, your children and their children after them may fear the LORD your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life.” Following Deuteronomy 6:5, we read, “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road when you lie down and when you get up” (vs 6-7).
Israelite history reveals that the father was to be diligent in instructing his children in the ways and words of the Lord for their own spiritual development and well-being. The father who was obedient to the commands of Scripture did just that. This brings us to Proverbs 22:6, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” To “train” indicates the first instruction that a father and mother give to a child, i.e., his early education. He training is designed to make clear to children the manner of life they are intended for. To commence a child’s early education in this way is a great importance.

Memorial Day

Please remember our Veterans on Memorial Day and every day. Please pause for a moment or two to consider the sacrifices of all Veterans who have given freely so that we all may enjoy our freedom. As it was their job to defend our freedom, so it becomes our job to honor their memories.

Memorial Day, once there was a time to commemorate those who have fought and died in wars to keep us great. Those feelings, now I fear, have greatly weakened instead replaced by America’s love of the 3 day weekend. (Richard Shuster) Thank you Richard Shuster.

Norma and I want to thank all of you who kept the home fires burning as we enjoyed a short vacation. We had a wonderful time of rest and relaxation in New York and a week at home. Many things have happened in two weeks and we are so blessed to be a part of this great church body. I also want to thank all of you for my Happy Birthday wishes and blessings.

We enjoyed the great service we attended in New York City but I can assure there is no place like our home church. Perhaps one of the most underrated blessings a Christian enjoys is a church where they know they are loved and appreciated.

God is pouring out His Spirit on our congregation with blessings, signs and wonders. One of the greatest gifts is the gift of His Holy Spirit. Jesus wants all of His children to be filled with the Baptism of His Holy Spirit with evidence.

We are living in the most exciting time as we anticipate the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God Bless,  Pastor Roger

What Now?

Every time there is an extra outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the local church, the members are wise to take a minute and ask God ‘what are you trying to tell us?’ I don’t think anyone could deny we are enjoying a fresh outpouring of Christ’s Spirit in our church. I believe we are seeing the results of faithful prayer warriors who believe God is answering out prayers. What an exciting time to be part of Spirit Filled Church. Yes, we have been called old school, however, we all agree the Word of God never changes. Far too often people get impatient and think they can help God by trying to be more like the world. That might draw a crowd but in the end there lies distruction.

We at Spirit Filled Church have believed all along if God doesn’t give the increase, all of our labor is in vain.

I am so blessed to be part of a real Pentecostal Church where lives are changed for eternity. We are not just a feel good group dating God but rather we are committed to Him as His faithful bride married for life and forever. No one need to ask God if He wants to bless his bride (church). The Bible is full of examples of how he longs to bless his people. He has always looked for places where He can display His glory without men taking credit for what He does.

It has been said God would do more miracles and healings if men wouldn’t take the credit for it. As we go forward in these exciting times, I believe it is enough just to be part of what God is doing in Northern Nevada. There is plenty of room for every member to have their gifts used for His glory.

As long as we return the praise to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I am confident He will even pour more blessings upon us. I say, “Let it rain, let it rain.”
God Bless
