Spring into Soul Winning

Spring is officially here, everyone knows this is a new season. What would God be saying to Spirit Filled Church as we enter this new season? I am convinced He is speaking to our church about soul winning. I believe the Holy Spirit has been speaking to me these last couple of months to engage in active evangelism. We have tried all kinds of technics, everything from side walk Sunday School to giving new bicycles. The most effective way I have experienced is the Body of Christ agreeing on reaching out to people we know and cross our paths on a daily basis.

  • Step one is to agree it is God’s will and command for believers to win souls.
  • Step two is to pray and ask God to open our eyes to those He has marked for salvation.

I know that Jesus died for all sinners but we know God knows everyone will not be saved. We also know there are people we know who are ready to receive and serve our Lord and Savior. There is no higher calling than to be a disciple of our resurrected living God. How happy are you knowing your sin debt is paid in full? Well, there are many just like us who would receive Him if only we could bring them to Him. Let’s pray like never before for the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us to those who are held in bondage. Jesus is the answer and we are simply instruments in his hands.

My prayer simply, Jesus help me to see through your eyes and guide me to a hurting broken heart that you will heal and give eternal life. Don’t look for the most beautiful but look for those who are down trodden and need a savior. Jesus said ‘the well do not need a physician.’ He will guide us to those He has marked by His Holy Spirit.

Palm Sunday

The History of Palm Sunday

The celebration of Palm Sunday originated in the Jerusalem Church, around the late fourth century. The early Palm Sunday ceremony consisted of prayers, hymns, and sermons recited by the clergy while the people walked to various holy sites throughout the city. At the final site, the place where Christ ascended into heaven, the clergy would read from the gospels concerning the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. In the early evening they would return to the city reciting: “Blessed is He that comes in the name of the Lord.” The children would carry palm and olive branches as the people returned through the city back to the church, where they would hold evening services.

The Meaning of Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. The gospels record the arrival of Jesus riding into the city on a donkey, while the crowds spread their cloaks and palm branches on the street and shouted “Hosanna to the Son of David” and “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord” to honor him as their long-awaited Messiah and King.

The significance of Jesus riding a donkey and having his way paved with palm branches is a fulfillment of a prophecy spoken by the prophet Zechariah (Zechariah 9:9). In biblical times, the regional custom called for kings and nobles arriving in procession to ride on the back of a donkey. The donkey was a symbol of peace; those who rode upon them proclaimed peaceful intentions. The laying of palm branches indicated that the king of palm branches indicated that the king of dignitary was arriving in victory or triumph.

Keep Christ First

April 2017 – how many thought we would live to see it. April is a great month as we celebrate our Lord Jesus sacrifice for all mankind. Thank God for Jesus who paid the entire cost of our

sin, our sin was actually nailed to that old rugged cross.

I feel for those who do not believe in Jesus. Just think what it would be like to stand before the great white throne judgement knowing full well that none of us are perfect in ourselves. One thousandth of a blemish and we would be doomed forever because the Bible is clear that God cannot look upon sin. I have never met anyone who was brazen enough to claim they were 100% perfect in everything they have done. The truth is we all need a savior and the Bible says Jesus was the perfect sacrificial Lamb without the slightest blemish. He was perfect then and He is perfect today, and all who will believe in Him shall be covered by His perfection.

I would like to make every effort this month to keep Him foremost in our mind. Let’s commit to making this month a month to remember the greatest sacrifice ever given.

I hope we will all memorize 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For He (God) made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”

My prayer for Spirit Filled Church is that we come closer to Him than ever. Let’s press in and rise above all the worldly distractions that separate us from being disciples that are willing to go the extra mile as we carry the message of His death, burial, and resurrection.

 God Bless,

What If…

Deuteronomy 28:2 – All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.
What if …
Ÿ   What if we did exactly what God told us to do?
Ÿ   What if He told you to go dip in the Truckee River 7 times, would you?
Ÿ   What if He told you to run around the church shouting “hallelujah”, would you do it?
Ÿ   What if He asked you to give all you have, would you do it?
Ÿ   What if He asked you to walk forward during a service, would you go?
Ÿ   What if He asked you to pray for your enemy, would you gladly do it?
Ÿ   What if He asked you to read his word, would you read it?
Ÿ   What if He asked you to follow him, would you?
Ÿ   What is He asking you to do today and will you say “yes”?

Some things seem easier than others but they all require us to surrender to the Word and Will of God. If we will obey, it comes with all the blessings of God.

God Bless You, Pastor Tim

To The Victor Goes The Crown

Congratulations President Elect Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. I do believe this church and all the prayer warriors across this nation had our prayers answered. The only person that I heard say “God told me” was Joan Vereen who stood before our pastors group and prophesied that Donald Trump would be elected president in this election. Well, it certainly came to be, thank God. Now, we who prayed that way must continue to pray and believe he will allow God to use him. I hope and pray we won’t be like the 9-11 tragedy when it seemed every church and cathedral was jammed packed for about sixty days then it seemed the allegiance died down. If we truly want America great again, we must continue to pray for our leaders as the Bible tells us to do; America will never be great until we allow God in the person of Jesus Christ to rule and reign our lives. Of course we know full well there will always be those who hate the name of God, however, we have just witnessed what God will do through the power of prayer. I am confident we, at Spirit Filled Church, will continue to be active in praying for our nation. We know no man can heal our nation, but we also know God will use men and women as instruments in His hand to get His will done. It is never enough to agree in theory and expect someone else to get the job done, we all have a part and responsibility to stand up for truth and righteousness. I pray for strength for each and everyone who holds the Name of Jesus up as the one and true God. Now is the time we pray and obey.

Count down!!

In two days we will have elected a new president to lead our nation for the next four years. I know all of you are fully aware of this, however, I want to remind all that I believe this is the most important election of our lives. It will, without a doubt, give America opportunity to right a lot of evil that has crept into the federal government. Never in my life have I witnessed such greed, graft and a willful attack against the Word of God. I believe it is part of Christ’s church to preach the truth. To encourage Christians, we must stand up for the Word of God or it will be taken from us. The Bible is clear, we are to have no gods before the Great “I AM”. Of course He is far more important than any earthly leader could ever be. We do know after these last eight years that a president has far more power than we ever believed.

If anyone examines the issues, it is plain before our eyes who we should stand for. Pro-life or Pro-choice? Obama Care or health care that is reasonable in cost and yet provides for our families. Support marriage between one man and one woman or go directly against God’s word by allowing this evil attack to continue against our God given blessings on Christian marriages and our family.

It may seem impossible to see these things change but I know you believe in the power of prayer. We pray often and I encourage everyone of you to be here Monday night as we intercede with other churches for God’s perfect will be done on Tuesday. I believe we, at Spirit Filled church, have fulfilled 2 Chronicles 7:14; we have repented for our sins and the sins of our nation, we have turned from our wicked ways, we have been praying corporately for 26 years.

This is the opportunity we have to ask that our nation would return to God through His only begotten Son.

God Bless You, Pastor Roger

Spirit Filled

God is continuing to bless our church with new converts, healings and signs and wonders. There are also a lot of transfers from some churches that are not as spirit filled as spirit filled is. We do not believe we are more special than any other true Christian but we are hungering and thirsting after His righteousness. We cannot take credit for this godly appetite that comes from the Holy Spirit which prepares the hearts of God’s people. We do believe that these years of intercessor prayer has opened the heavens to pour out His blessings in these most difficult times. Far too many Christians discount the power of prayer. Someone may ask what has all these prayer meetings accomplished in 26 years. Well, look around and look through spiritual eyes at what God has done and is doing. When a handful of saints gather on a regular basis and fervently pray, God hears and is well pleased that a group is believing and praying by faith.

So what does God want Spirit Filled to do? Stay faithful, pray continually, believe for even greater outpourings.

 I Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJ

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

(Does He mean you?) If you don’t have a heart to pray, ask God to give you a desire for God to use your voice to accomplish His will.

If you are desiring to pray more, that in itself is prayer. You will never succeed until you have a desire to succeed. May we all desire more of Jesus than the things of the world.

God Bless, Pastor Roger

Remembering September 11, 2001

Habakkuk 3:16-19 –
“I trembled inside when I hear all this; my lips quivered with fear. My legs gave way beneath me, and I shook in terror. I will wait quietly for the coming day when disaster will strike the people who invade us. Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vine, even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation. The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He will make me as surefooted as a deer and bring me safely over the mountains.
Yes, our hope is in our Lord Jesus Christ in every situation, however, after fifteen years, we are more unsafe then at any time I can remember. I hear a lot of Christians say that God’s will for three thousand people who went to work on 9-11-01 to die by terrorists flying airplanes in the Twin Towers. I do not believe it is God’s will that three thousand babies be aborted monthly in the United States of America. I do not believe it is God’s will that Americans go to the polls and cast a vote for anyone who continue to allow these murderous attacks to continue.
Jesus made it clear we can protect ourselves and our families. Luke 22:36 “He (Jesus) said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.” Jesus knew future opposition would require them to be prepared. They would need defense and protection.
Keep watch and pray without ceasing. Jesus is coming soon.

Is God pleased?

Isaiah 43:1-2, But now, this is what the Lord says – ‘He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; its flames will not set you ablaze.’

Too often the question arises in our minds how can God be pleased when I come into His presence? I know I really do not have much to offer. I am not a big wheel in any stretch of the imagination. As a matter of fact, I probably will never have honorable mention among my peers. I know all that I can do is humble myself at the feet of Jesus and give Him praise for saving me from a life of sin.

If this really is your attitude, you probably are miles ahead in the mind of Christ. There is no scripture where Jesus gives praise for so called big wheels but many times He was counted with the transgressors.

Luke 22:37, It is written! ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.’

This is not referring to willful sinners but that the elite Pharisees were looking down on the common folk who were following Jesus with a whole heart.

Which crowd do you prefer? I know who I want to stand with.

Woe

Isaiah 5:20-23 – Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness. Who put bitterness for sweet and sweet for bitter. 21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. 22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, 23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent.
Never in my life have I witnessed such media bias. Just this week Obama broke our law by giving $400 million to our enemy for ransom. However, the big story in the major media is that Donald Trump said he saw a video of the plane delivering the cash.      Now I ask you, how can Americans be so gullible?
Isn’t this what the prophets of old prophesied would be happening? And still fifty percent are willing to remain in the darkness of unbelief. Only God can open the blind spiritual eyes, and unstop spiritual deafness.
We, at Spirit Filled, believe in the power of prayer and the power at the ballot box. How can our fellow Americans be enlightened without the intervention of God’s Holy Spirit? Romans 8:26 tells us exactly how to pray when we don’t know what to pray for. The Bible is clear during these times, we must allow the Holy Spirit to pray through us. Use our mouth to speak the words in the unknown tongue that He wants prayed. No, God doesn’t do anything on earth without our prayers. That’s why it’s so important that we allow Him to pray through us, I believe as we continue to pray and obey, He will have His perfect will.
