Pastor Roger’s Blog

faithful Members of Spirit Filled:

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood – to be received by faith. Romans 3:23-25, NIV.

Lord our God, we praise your name because you have set up a mercy seat on earth because you forgive our sins through the blood of Jesus Christ. May your glory shine in all hearts, to the praise of your name and the deliverance of those who are still in misery. Keep us in your Word, which works miracles. Protect in us all that Jesus Christ has brought to the earth, and may we use his gifts in simplicity of heart. Grant that much may be accomplished to the glory of your name and that we may draw nearer to the day of Jesus Christ, for which we wait in hope and longing, Amen

If there were ever a day to draw nearer to Jesus our Lord, it must be the day we are in. We are seeing things most would never dream possible.

However, there is hope in our Lord Jesus who rules and reigns His church.

Yes, 2 Corinthians 4:4 says satan is the god of this age, that is for those in disobedience, not the saints of God. Jesus is our ruler and salvation, praise His name.

Understanding God’s Ways

God wants us to understand His ways. He does not want you to jump off the potter’s wheel at the very times He is shaping you for the future. It is easy to understand God’s acts, but not as easy to understand His ways. It is harder to understand the way God shapes a vessel as He takes it from glory to glory. Jeremiah tells us that God is the potter, and we are the clay. How does the potter shape clay? He shapes it with spinning cycles and applied pressure.
God’s acts are easy enough to identify. We can all recognize God’s power to intervene, heal, fill, deliver and provide. But His ways refer to the processes and the principles that rule His realm of operation.

“Faith” is the operative word we can focus on when we pursue God’s mighty acts, but “trust” is the word we must focus on when God is revealing His ways. God wants us both to believe in His power and to trust His nature.  God’s acts reveal what He can do, but His ways reveal who He is.  Perhaps one of the hardest tasks for a believer is learning to trust God and building a deeper relationship while waiting for the supernatural manifestation of His power.
Knowing God’s character is as important as knowing His power. God’s acts are often unpredictable. Jesus said, “The wind blows where it wishes” (John 3:8). You cannot control God’s acts. However, His character is completely and utterly consistent and reliable.  Destiny is a life lived in the adventure of knowing both God’s acts and ways and knowing how to behave in periods of stretching and periods where cycles seem to repeat. If you are desiring to truly answer His call, He will move heaven and earth to make a straight path for you – to the summit – and into His highest and best for your life.

faithful Members of Spirit Filled:
Celebrating our fathers comes around once a year. I have the honor of celebrating the best dad in the house and your spiritual father, Pastor Roger, or whom I call Pastor Dad. As a young father, the journey took a lifetime of lessons from our father in heaven for my Pastor Dad to become the man he is. He is a better dad today than when he began. My Christian father shared some things in our household that might be worth sharing in your home.
My father loved eating dinner around the table. As busy as we were, everyone gathered at 6:00 pm every night to talk about our days, keeping communication open. We prayed over every meal we would eat. We were giving thanks for the food God so generously gave us. We would take turns praying over our meals out loud.  On Sundays, we all went to church! Sunday school, central service, then back again for the evening service. No questions asked; this was our schedule.  Every night before going to bed, a hug, kiss, and “I love you” would finish our days even when involved in disagreements.
In our world of 2021, where guidelines are fading, and opinion is louder than love, remember God has created you to be the father of your children. You must love, guide, protect, and encourage them. It can be a terrifying time with many social issues raring their heads. Still, the true enemy of the Christian home is not social media but the enemy of our souls. He wants to divide our homes and take our children away from heaven.
Men love your wives and treat them well. Preserve your marriage and household, so your children are not put in a position of choosing between you. Protect their innocence; stay in church and follow your pastor. He has traveled many rough roads giving him the wisdom to offer any father.  Stay in the word of God and the house of prayer. Prayer is the protection our children need. Often wives and mothers pick up this mantel. The Bible teaches men to be spiritual leaders in their homes. We need your protection; our children need your intercession.
This battle of parenthood is not for the weak-hearted, but God will give you the courage to complete it. “Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with your wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 The giants only look like giants when facing them alone. Your children are waiting for your loving instruction with the strength of God’s word. You can be a better dad in 2021! God gave them to you, so He trusts you with them.
We love you fathers of Spirit Filled Church! Happy Father’s Day!

Faithful Members of Spirit Filled:

If anyone is bored in this church, you would have to be completely disconnected. How could we be any busier? Our ladies are coming back from a great retreat with some coming from four different states. The Rangers had a great outing and choir is beginning. We have classes for every age and looking forward to City Wide Prayer we are hosting tomorrow night. Several churches have expressed interest in joining in prayer for our nation.
As busy as we are we have learned above all things to keep our Lord and Savior number one. I pray we never get so active that we can’t attend corporate prayer and these great Bible studies for every age. Our school is on break however there are a lot of improvements being made.
Make time for God even with a busy schedule. If we fail to have some alone time with God, it will show in our lives through our attitude.
In the 15th chapter of the gospel according to John, Jesus reminds us He is the vine we are the branches. If the branch gets disconnect from the vine, it will die. He also tells us we must produce fruit and when we do, He still prunes us that we might produce even more. Pruning may not feel good at times, but it is much better than the alternative, and that is non-producers will be thrown into the fire. “Without me you can do nothing.”  Nothing that will reap eternal rewards. This is the main reason we must stay in fellowship with like believers. Yes, you are important and when you are absent, part of the body is missing. That could very well be the time Jesus wants to use you to fill your portion of the wall!

Springtime in Nevada continues. We were having a conversation this week and I said ‘when we moved here May 19 1956, there were snow flurries.” Well, this May 21 as you know, we are having snowstorms “Global Warming?”

We do know the Bible warns of perilous times in the last days, and we see it coming to pass. The Bible is always correct, even if people don’t believe it still remains true.

God is still blessing our church with great services and a wonderful celebration of 31 years last Sunday. Norma and I want to thank all of you who made it a great day. What an honor to pastor this church, I appreciate each and every one of you richly.

Our Spirit Filled Academy had a great year, and our teachers are looking forward to even a better one this Fall. It was a major blessing to enjoy our Kindergarten graduation on Friday. These are the finest boys and girls in this valley. They make my heart glad and I know all of you feel the same.

I want to thank all of you who helped beautify our landscape. It is through your faithful giving we are able to complete these projects without debt, you and Jose who maintains all of this beautiful property.

Today we celebrate Pentecost Sunday and let me remind everyone it is a wonderful blessing to be a Holy Ghost church and not be ashamed to speak it out. The church was birthed on Pentecost and without the Spirit of Jesus leading us, we would all fall into a ditch. We have enjoyed 31 years of Spirit Filled services and I only see better days ahead. Thank you for your support as we continue reaping the harvest.

May 6th 1990 was our first service in a garage in Spanish Springs. God had given me eleven directives of the first one being “place of worship and house of prayer”. We have, thank God, stood our ground in Him all these years. We have much to celebrate today, as we go back and remember some of those times.

I always want first of all to give God in the Name of Jesus for keeping and pouring out His Holy Spirit. And always give thanks to all of you and those in the past that labored so diligently to fulfill the calling God gave Spirit Filled Church. No pastor, no leader will ever build a work without willing workers. We have enjoyed many miracles with signs and wonders in 31 years. And I really believe the best is yet to come.

I am so thankful for all of you here today and to my wife who has stood by me all these years. There was a time or two I thought I should give up, but Norma reminded me God spoke this church into being and He would complete the work with me or without me. Our vision has always been a soul winning station, by prayer, praise and worship, and the Word of God. We will never know the full impact of this church body until we know as “He knows”. It’s always to soon to quit and with God’s help and His Holy Spirit we will stay the course. It is by the Name of Jesus and His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary that any man or woman could ever be worthy of eternal life. His blood has made all true believers inherit eternal life in Him. It is by His amazing grace that we are saved.

We serve the only true and good God, not “a” good God.

Mark 10:18 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good but one, that is God.”

Jesus was declaring His deity, but they couldn’t see it! We have the whole word, and many do not understand the “deity” of God is in the person of Jesus. Why does it seem difficult to grasp? The main reason is this great truth is for true believers. And He makes true believers dig in and meditate on His truths. God desires His own to keep Him above everything even with all the distractions the enemy throws in our path. That’s why I teach we all must press in. Jesus will not receive casual relationships. He said all or none!

He speaks to the Laodicean church in Revelation 3. Revelation 3:16 “So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth.

This sure doesn’t sound politically correct! Well, it isn’t, we must stop trying to please non-believers that Jesus is an easy path. Jesus said narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it Matthew 7:14. Well, that doesn’t sound fair! It is more than fair, it is the most wonderful news to mankind. He paid for every one of our sins and He made the only way to eternal life. We do not have to pay our sin debt, just confess His name, believe He is God,and follow His leading just like His disciples. After all true believers are His disciples and even though the road may be rough at times, He promised to be with us in every rut and bump. Praise His Name!

Looking for beautiful weather, we sure are blessed. I am sure we will learn our winter is not over. It could be like what the Bible says about end times.

1 Thessalonians 5:3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and shall not escape.

Those who know the word of God and have close contact with the Holy Spirit know the end times are upon us. Just as real Nevadans know this is just to freeze out fruit trees.

We have been studying the Rapture on Tuesday evenings and I am more convinced than ever Jesus is about ready to claim His bride. I know most churches have shied away from teaching the Rapture but what men believe and teach never changes what the Bible declares.

If we ever needed to study His word and pray without ceasing, it is now! How can sheep know the shepherd’s voice if they don’t listen to him?

Do you personally sense a greater need to press in than ever? I want to encourage all of you to be more involved in what God is providing. There are a lot of members who could be here at noon on Tuesday and be part of the Tuesday evening Bible Study. I know God is leading us to a deeper relationship in Him. I never just randomly pick a topic but by prayer, He directs me on what to teach and preach. We have confirmation daily on His direction. The more we study His word, the more we desire to look for His return and win the lost. Jesus really is our motivation and the closer we draw to Him, the more we will bring in the lost that they might receive Jesus and have eternal life.

                                                                       Pastor   Roger

Passover begins at dusk this Saturday evening. Passover is celebrated by the Jewish people all over the world. The Jews for Jesus celebrate as well, however they as we know that this is about Jesus. We must pray for Israel and especially that their eyes will be open to Jesus our Messiah. Passover is about the blood on their doorposts that kept the death angel from entering their homes. God said, “when I see the blood, I will Passover you.” As you know that blood for true believers is the blood shed on the cross of Calvary. When we apply by receiving Him, His blood gives us eternal life. It is rather difficult for those who are born again to understand why they can’t see this. We know only the Holy Spirit can open blind spiritual eyes and draw the lost to Jesus.

Today Christians all over the world celebrate Palm Sunday and His glorious entry into Jerusalem. Thank God His Holy Spirit has opened our eyes to believe He is our Lord and Savior. We must stand firm in our conviction as the enemy is coming against Christians all over the world. Our greatest weapon is the power of prayer and I know our church is praying more than ever.

God is pouring out His Holy Spirit on our church and we must be sure to keep our guard up as God blesses. The evil one will work his evil force against us. We know this because we know the Word of God declares it. We do not walk in fear but by the power of God who strengthens us in those last days.

1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you”. Read vs 14 for encouragement.

         Pastor   Roger

One week from Palm Sunday then of course the wonderful resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. What a difference from a year ago. Thank God for His healing our body and loved ones. As we begin to focus upon the miraculous resurrection whereby all who believe have salvation. We must allow His Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into a much-needed relationship in Him.

Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

If we are crucified with Christ, then we are dead to the world meaning we have learned this is not our home. We are looking for a city not built by man. Yes, we are in the world but not of the world. That means we must occupy until He comes for His bride, “the church”. We do have a responsibility to provide for our families and maintain productive lives as long as we are on earth, but our heart and soul belong to Jesus. We must not be caught up in this world but be caught up in Jesus. That’s what the word “rapture” means, to “be caught up.” What a thought it may be sooner than many think.

When we think about “Good Friday”, let’s remember it is the power of His sinless blood that cleanses us from all sin. It is His becoming sin that my sins are done away with. We must be sinless to enter heaven and the only way we can be sinless is to believe His work and sacrifice on Mt Calvary. He paid it all, that we may receive all He has for us. Be strong, watch and pray we may be with Him before Easter.
