Oregon Gunman Targets Christians

Our hearts go out to the families of the innocent students murdered at Oregon's Umpqua Community College.  We must pray for Christians throughout the world who are being executed by the thousands.  Now we are seeing more and more, even in the United States.

So why does the President and the media continue to hide the truth?  Most of these attacks on Christians are coming from a religion that hates Christ and Christianity.  It has already been rumored that the killer was of the Muslim faith.  We do not have proof yet, but there are many other accounts of this extreme hate group committing cold-blooded murder.

Matthew 24:4-5, And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.

Are You Expecting?

Acts 3:5 - So the crippled man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
How can we claim we have faith if we do not expect to receive from God? The Word of God teaches we must have faith to please God. We also must have faith to receive. We have been studying the book of Hebrews and we all are familiar with Chapter 11:1 – “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
I like to think I live my life by expectation. I expect we will win more souls, I expect I will become more like Jesus, I expect all of our family to be saved, I expect our church will do even greater things in these last days. I expect to see Jesus face to face and have heaven as my home for eternity.
The eternal law of seed time and harvest, planting and reaping, giving and receiving. Give to God in faith, expecting Him to bless your return. Mark 11:24 – “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

We, at Spirit Filled, have every right to expect God to even increase our blessings. We have not wavered from the vision God gave us in May 1990. Lots of prayer and seed planting sown with faith in these 25 years.
Walk by faith expecting a great harvest and we will see our city changed for the glory of God.

Take Me Away…

Whether man realizes it, or will admit it, he, too, groans for a physical and spiritual escape from it all. There is a plan for escape for the few who will follow instructions for the rest, everything will go from bad to worse to horrible.
Jesus is coming to take His true children out; then let the world “go to the devil.” Yes, God is going to permit satan to actually rule in person on this earth.
Although God’s prophets foretold many explicit signs of Christ’s first coming, most people missed him!
2 Timothy 3:1-5 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
The good news, Luke 21:28 When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.

Remembering and Looking Forward

Yes, this is the weekend we should always remember. Our nation has been under attack for fourteen years and it seems to be getting more intent.
Someone recently said there is nothing they can do about that. I beg to differ, we can and must pray with faith that God will raise up leaders that will lead our beautiful America back to Him.
Prayer without faith is like faith without good deeds. We need both to be effective in Christ’s Kingdom. We are entering a new era at Spirit Filled in a program that will help us track our efforts and to see where we can improve in soul winning and assimilation of new families coming into our church.
I believe God has given us opportunity by sending Gary Lebeck who is setting up this new church software that will help each and every department. We must continue to pray and use the tools God is sending us. We have been blessed with this great facility, really a miracle that God clearly gave us. We are blest with one of the most beautiful and useable sanctuaries in all of Northern Nevada. I know God wants all of us to be more effective in our ministries and fill this church to the very brim.
I thank God for everyone of you but we cannot say we have arrived, there are thousands who do not have eternal life and it is clearly our assignment to reach those Jesus has assigned to our church. No, we can’t win them all but we can win many as God gives us the increase.

Praise His Name, Pastor Roger

Happy Labor Day!

Happy Labor Day! Sounds like an oxymoron, however, to born-again spirit filled Christians, it is a happy Labor Day. I believe one of our greatest privileges in our life is to labor for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We are enjoying a great Bible Study in Hebrews and the Bible reminds us in chapter 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the day approaching!
What day? The day we have been proclaiming all of our Christian lives. What a day that will be when we look upon His face. Yes, this is a time to labor and spread the good news. The longer we serve Him the more we love Him. I for one never tire of gathering in His name and enjoying the presence of His Holy Spirit.
God is blessing our church in every way. I believe we are in the last day harvest. Never in our lives have we seen such miracles. Even Hollywood is being used for the glory of God. Of course there are attacks of the evil one but we are not those who shrink back vs 39.
I hear great reports of the movie called “War Room”. Well, we have been making war in the heavenlies from the inception of our church. Ephesians 6:12 clearly speaks of spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Praise God, we at Spirit Filled know how to combat these forces in the Name of Jesus. Yes, we are excited to stand our ground and declare there is one God and His Name is Jesus!
God bless,

Do Not Throw Away You Confidence

I want to talk to you about a person you can spot in any group. They have that special “something” that sets them apart, what is it? Their sense of direction – and assurance that they know where they’re going! Their awareness of their own abilities! Their sincerity! Their past success! Their ability to make eye contact and use body language! In a word – CONFIDENCE!  The Bible says in Hebrews 10:35 “Do not cast (throw) away your confidence, which has great reward.”
Confidence is taking our present situation – whatever obstacles we’re facing, whatever limitation we’re living with, whatever chronic conditions wear us down, whatever has smashed our dreams, whatever factors in life tend to push us under – it’s okay to admit we don’t like, and ask for help. Sometimes it takes the help of a brother or a sister; but never saying “I can’t get by or handle it.”

As soon as we say, “I can’t get by,” we are:
Contradicting the promise of God
Failing to draw on the resources that God’s already given us (His Word)
Confidence means having the ability to stand up to whatever test, because Christ has made His strength available – through us!

Feeling Insignificant?

We are among seven billion people who coexist on a tiny planet that resides in a small section of a rather insignificant solar system. Our earth, in reality, is just only miniscule blue dot among millions of celestial bodies that God created. On the gigantic canvas that is our universe, our beautiful, majestic Earth appears as a tiny speck of dust.
That could make us feel extremely unimportant and inconsequential. However, God’s Word suggests that just the opposite is true. Our great God, who “measured the waters in the hollow of His hand”, has singled out each person on this planet as supremely important, for we are made in His image.
Now read Matthew 22:14. For many are called but few are chosen. Those who are truly born-again, you have been chosen out of 7,000,000,000, do you still feel insignificant?
This entire series I have been preaching is all about our worth in Jesus Christ. Don’t allow the devil to lie to you about your net worth, you are one in seven billion!

God bless, Pastor Roger

The Gloria

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, and we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, Heavenly King, O God, Almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, only begotten Son, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, You take away the sin of the world, receive our prayer; You are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One; you alone are the Lord. You alone are the most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in the glory of God the Father. Amen
As we have enjoyed a few days of recreation of classic cars, I am reminded it is a wonderful thing to realize we are in the world not of the world. As we enjoy showing off our cars, I see far too much intoxication and sin being glorified. As I woke up early this morning, I couldn’t get away from the truth of what a glorious God we have. We are blessed far beyond measure to be a part of this wonderful Spirit Filled Church where we can enjoy real prayer meetings and be caught up in praise and worship in the Name of Jesus.
It won’t be long before we really see our risen Lord face to face. Never grow weary in well doing.

God bless, Pastor Roger

Sanctity of Life

Have you been alarmed at these mass murders this past year? I believe one reason is that the world has forgotten the value of life. We call it “Sanctity of Life”.
What does sanctity of life mean? The phrase “Sanctity of Life” reflects the belief that, because people are made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26). Human life has an inherently sacred attribute that should be protected and respected at all times. While God gave humanity the authority to kill and eat other forms of life (Genesis 9:3), the murdering of other human beings is expressly forbidden, with the penalty of death (Genesis 9:6).
If you see these latest videos of unborn babies being ripped apart and even dissected, surely it will break your heart. How could anyone deny these are living human beings? How foolish when people try and argue these are just a glob of cells. May God help us.
I think it is a fair question to ask “what can we do?” As born-again Christians, our first priority must be a devoted prayer life.
It can be overwhelming, however, I still believe our prayers really matter. We must pray and obey, we must pray with faith. Faith to believe God hears us when we pray in the name of Jesus.
We can be sure we are all registered to vote, then vote only for candidates who will admit they are pro-life. Never cast a vote for any man or woman who will not stand up for the unborn. I believe the blood of these innocent babies will be on our hands if we fail to find out whether or not we are supporting murder.
God help the church and may God help these United States of America. May we pray, effectual prayer by the power of Christ’s Holy Spirit James 5:16.

God bless, Pastor Roger

Overwhelmed?

Live can be overwhelming at times. We are living in a day when men’s heart can fail because of fear, Luke 21:26 KJV.

People often say “Well, I wouldn’t let that bother me if I were you! Well, the truth is, it is not you, no wonder you wouldn’t be bothered. We know we are not all the same when it comes to our individuality. The things that I am allergic to may not affect you in the least. Why wouldn’t it be the same for those spiritual mountains in our lives? The challenges may be very different but the remedy is the same. His name is Jesus Christ the sold rock of our salvation. We must train ourselves to stand upon the Rock of our foundation.
God is doing great things in our church body. Why would we be surprised at these attacks our enemy is throwing our way? I cannot recall a time in the life of our church when the power was manifested anymore than these last several weeks.
I have been serving Jesus long enough to know God’s presence. I know His Holy Spirit and I am confident we are in the presence of Almighty God. Let’s not question, let’s just enjoy and keep open to what He is doing in our church. We pray for this renewal to spread throughout this valley.

God bless, Pastor Roger
