Remembering September 11, 2001

Habakkuk 3:16-19 –
“I trembled inside when I hear all this; my lips quivered with fear. My legs gave way beneath me, and I shook in terror. I will wait quietly for the coming day when disaster will strike the people who invade us. Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vine, even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation. The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He will make me as surefooted as a deer and bring me safely over the mountains.
Yes, our hope is in our Lord Jesus Christ in every situation, however, after fifteen years, we are more unsafe then at any time I can remember. I hear a lot of Christians say that God’s will for three thousand people who went to work on 9-11-01 to die by terrorists flying airplanes in the Twin Towers. I do not believe it is God’s will that three thousand babies be aborted monthly in the United States of America. I do not believe it is God’s will that Americans go to the polls and cast a vote for anyone who continue to allow these murderous attacks to continue.
Jesus made it clear we can protect ourselves and our families. Luke 22:36 “He (Jesus) said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.” Jesus knew future opposition would require them to be prepared. They would need defense and protection.
Keep watch and pray without ceasing. Jesus is coming soon.

Is God pleased?

Isaiah 43:1-2, But now, this is what the Lord says – ‘He who created you, O Jacob, He who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; its flames will not set you ablaze.’

Too often the question arises in our minds how can God be pleased when I come into His presence? I know I really do not have much to offer. I am not a big wheel in any stretch of the imagination. As a matter of fact, I probably will never have honorable mention among my peers. I know all that I can do is humble myself at the feet of Jesus and give Him praise for saving me from a life of sin.

If this really is your attitude, you probably are miles ahead in the mind of Christ. There is no scripture where Jesus gives praise for so called big wheels but many times He was counted with the transgressors.

Luke 22:37, It is written! ‘And He was numbered with the transgressors; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.’

This is not referring to willful sinners but that the elite Pharisees were looking down on the common folk who were following Jesus with a whole heart.

Which crowd do you prefer? I know who I want to stand with.

Woe

Isaiah 5:20-23 – Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness. Who put bitterness for sweet and sweet for bitter. 21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight. 22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine and champions at mixing drinks, 23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe, but deny justice to the innocent.
Never in my life have I witnessed such media bias. Just this week Obama broke our law by giving $400 million to our enemy for ransom. However, the big story in the major media is that Donald Trump said he saw a video of the plane delivering the cash.      Now I ask you, how can Americans be so gullible?
Isn’t this what the prophets of old prophesied would be happening? And still fifty percent are willing to remain in the darkness of unbelief. Only God can open the blind spiritual eyes, and unstop spiritual deafness.
We, at Spirit Filled, believe in the power of prayer and the power at the ballot box. How can our fellow Americans be enlightened without the intervention of God’s Holy Spirit? Romans 8:26 tells us exactly how to pray when we don’t know what to pray for. The Bible is clear during these times, we must allow the Holy Spirit to pray through us. Use our mouth to speak the words in the unknown tongue that He wants prayed. No, God doesn’t do anything on earth without our prayers. That’s why it’s so important that we allow Him to pray through us, I believe as we continue to pray and obey, He will have His perfect will.

To the HIGHEST

Glory to God in the highest! Have you ever asked yourself if in fact you glorify God to the highest? We have a lot that should bring glory to God. First of all, I believe we should glorify God for allowing us to be born a human and then being born-again as a spiritual being. The Bible teaches that only born-again human beings will join in that final chapter where His bride is revealed to the universe. What a thought, that although we feel so unworthy He will reveal us to every living being as His chosen ones.
Isaiah 42:7 Everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.
We were made for the glory of God, and one way we bring Him glory is in times of stress and difficulties we stand our ground and walk by faith. God’s plan is that we are a witness in times of grief and disappointment. It’s not easy and it doesn’t come without years of discipling. However, it is not impossible once we learn to yield to the Holy Spirit for strength and direction.
I Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. A people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God, once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
Today as we stand to give God glory, may we remember He is worthy of all praise and worship. May God be forever blessed through His Son and His people.

Direction for the Month of June

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgements, and his paths beyond tracing out!  Romans 11:33
God can do all things! “

When the disciples heard this they were greatly astonished and asked, “Who then can be saved?” Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

The Lord is moving upon the nations, and He is saying, “

Come, and let us return (TO YOUR FIRST GLORY) unto the Lord, for he hath torn, and he will heal us, he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us, in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning, and He shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth

(Hosea 6:1-3).

I believe we are in the third day. Two thousand years from the birth of Jesus and now sixteen years into the third thousand. So when will He return? No man knows not, even Jesus in His flesh, but believe me, His Spirit one with His father know full well when it is time for that great wedding of the bride and it will not take place on the sin infested world.

So what is the word for June of 2016? June being the sixth month, the number six is the number of man, beast, satan, flesh; carnal, toil and strain of the flesh or natural realm; work, sorrow, secular completeness.

The word is “Holiness”. He said,
“Holy, Holy, Holy!” Be ye holy for I am holy; for without holiness, no man shall see the Lord!

Memorial Day

Please remember our Veterans on Memorial Day and every day. Please pause for a moment or two to consider the sacrifices of all Veterans who have given freely so that we all may enjoy our freedom. As it was their job to defend our freedom, so it becomes our job to honor their memories.

Memorial Day, once there was a time to commemorate those who have fought and died in wars to keep us great. Those feelings, now I fear, have greatly weakened instead replaced by America’s love of the 3 day weekend. (Richard Shuster) Thank you Richard Shuster.

Norma and I want to thank all of you who kept the home fires burning as we enjoyed a short vacation. We had a wonderful time of rest and relaxation in New York and a week at home. Many things have happened in two weeks and we are so blessed to be a part of this great church body. I also want to thank all of you for my Happy Birthday wishes and blessings.

We enjoyed the great service we attended in New York City but I can assure there is no place like our home church. Perhaps one of the most underrated blessings a Christian enjoys is a church where they know they are loved and appreciated.

God is pouring out His Spirit on our congregation with blessings, signs and wonders. One of the greatest gifts is the gift of His Holy Spirit. Jesus wants all of His children to be filled with the Baptism of His Holy Spirit with evidence.

We are living in the most exciting time as we anticipate the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Discipline and Priorities

We need to learn two principles which are crucial to life.  First, we need to learn the principle of discipline.  Life is not doing what you want to do; it is doing what you ought to do.  Paul said this was a struggle in his life.  Each day he had to deal with doing what was right.

Secondly, we should learn the principle of priorities.  Your relationship with God is the single, most important relationship in your life.  We must encourage ourselves to set godly priorities and discipline for ourselves and follow them.

Don’t allow problems that stem from disagreement about minor, “temporal” or non-eternal things derail you from your walk with God.  We tend to be more “problem conscious” than “power conscious.”  Perhaps, this is why Jesus instructed His disciples, on one occasion, to come aside or come apart for a while.   (See Mark6:31)  If you don’t “come apart for a while”, then you might “fall apart for a while.”  Jesus set the example for us by taking time to “unload” in the presence of His Father.  Prayer is an important part of this church and should be. Prayer needs to be an important part in our daily life with God.

Satan has made it his priority to keep the saints of God from their proprieties.  He does his best to keep us so bogged down in “things” that we forget to spend time with God.

3 John 1:2

True Worship

Good morning everyone, thank you for deciding to be here with us this morning.  Way too often we forget the effort you went through to get here–some Sundays more than others!

Romans 12:1-2 says, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Paul is giving us some encouragement to serve and dedicate our lives to Christ.  As hard as this life can be at times, this is the best, and as far as I am concerned, the only way to live this life here on earth.  My prayer this morning is that whether you are at the top of the mountain or in the lowest valley, that you will draw near to God and He will draw near to you.  He will fill your heart with peace and your mind with the wisdom and knowledge of Him.

Pray

Today we honor all the ladies in our church and in our lives. We men, at Spirit Filled, know full well we love and need all of you women who do so much for us and our great church. We are blessed beyond measure of all of your labor and love to us and to our Lord Jesus Christ. I have never understood the gender argument, the Word of God is extremely clear that we need each other to be complete. Just because a few mentally imbalanced people think they can become the opposite sex by whatever means they can find, they will always be what our Creator created them to be.

God’s word is very powerful and to the point in Romans chapter 1 and 2. How can anyone read these passages and not realize we are in the last days. Many will say “well I am not living like that!” However, verse 32 of chapter 1 says:

Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them

If we cast a vote for any candidate who approves abortion or same sex marriage, are we not approving of such things? Our prayer at Spirit Filled is that God would bring our nation back to Him. We need the power of the Holy Spirit to lead these men and women back to the truth of God’s Word. Mothers are a powerful influence in your families and even if you think your children’s not listening, you still have the most powerful weapon which is intercessory prayer! Pray and obey and plead the blood of Jesus over your family each and every day.

     Galatians 6:9

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

National Day of Prayer May 5th

This year’s theme for the National Day of Prayer is “Wake-up America” emphasizing the need for individuals, corporately and individually to return to the God of our Fathers in reverence for His Holy Name. The scripture chosen this year is Isaiah 58:1 “

Shout it aloud, do not hold back, raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the house of Jacob their sins

.” I encourage everyone of you to meet with us at noon Thursday. America really needs prayer as we approach this election. Will we be able to save our beautiful nation for our children and grandchildren?
This house, our church, has been built upon the words of Jesus “

my house shall be called a house of prayer

” Matthew 21:13. The question is ‘are we raising up a generation who will keep these words?’ We must build upon the Rock of Salvation. Our nation is at a crossroad and so is the church. Will we be able to keep our God given vision alive or will we go the path of entertainment? There’s nothing wrong with Christian entertainment but if it ever takes the place of prayer, we are doomed to failure. We must stand our ground and believe God that He is the only hope we have in a sin infested world.

We are believing God for even greater outpourings in our church but we must remain completely dependent upon Him to guide us and give us wisdom as we are in a great time of growth and revival. I am convinced we have these great blessings because of so many of you who pray and obey. Let’s stand together as believers in the power of Christ’s resurrection and His soon return.
